Dean Young
Managing Director
The Nexxagen team is led by Dean Young who holds a BSc in Property Development and a MSc in Property Studies and is a qualified CA(SA) with 20 years' work experience. Dean is a passionate member of the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) and the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) as well as being a certified Green Star New Building Accredited Professional and Green Star Sustainable Precincts Accredited Professional.

He has a fervent interest in property development, climate change, smart cities, strategic development, sustainable development, property portfolio management, property law, property valuations, property finance and urban land economics within the context of the overall need for better cities.

Dean Young, founder of Nexxagen, has been instrumental in the company's establishment, growth and success. Young has been part of the visioning of the overall strategy and activities of the development company, from acquisition of raw land through financing, property development, design, construction and marketing.

Nexxagen continues to impact on the thriving Umhlanga and Durban neighborhoods, and aims to increase its influence without the northern and southern region.

Since its inception in 2020, Nexxagen has provided transaction advisory services and property development expertise to its valued clients, which generated on aggregate in excess of R15 million in value. Nexxagen aims to create award winning neighborhoods and villages in the heart of the city and revitalize the Durban region. Nexxagen implements all aspects from from master planning, financing, design, and marketing to win support from the community and stakeholders.

Nexxagen's focus is urban projects in the city of Durban and surrounding areas. While still maintaining this urban focus, Nexxagen is expanding its footprint to other first and second tier SA cities including the North Coast, the CBD and the South Coast.

Young attended the Ecomomic and Built Environment School at the University of Cape Town and School of Engineering at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in Durban. His financial experience spans all aspects of real estate development, where he has represented developers, architects, contractors and related professionals. As a developer/chartered accountant, Young has the experience to represent institutional investors and pension funds, syndication companies, lenders, asset managers and banks to oversee the development of real estate assets.

Young' personal development experience covers a broad spectrum that includes residential, commercial and retail properties. His first development experience was the acquisition of the Northplace Centre building.

Young was honored by the Green Building Council South Africa's premier magazine +Impact Magazine in the February edition, titled "Sustainable precincts are the key to people leading healthier, more productive, and socially responsible lives."

Young previously has served or is actively involved in a list of charitable and community organizations including Royal Family Kids, an organization that raises funds through a series of events for changed lives of vulnerable children.
